Waffle Day!

Before the long weekend, we made waffles! The children loved cutting the fruit with plastic knives, mixing the batter, and, most of all, eating the waffles with Halal whipped cream!

Garden Explorations: Ants, Spiders, and Worms!

Everyone has been loving spending time in the Thorncliffe garden in the beautiful weather we've had recently! Now that Spring is here, we have been noticing all sorts of new things in our garden, like flowers, vegetables, and BUGS! We have examined ants and spiders with magnifying glasses, sketched them, and discussed our theories about where and how they live. We also made plasticine recreations of spiders. Working with plasticine is a fantastic way to develop finger muscle strength!

Math Fun

Every Day 5, instead of starting our day with independent reading as we usually do, we focus on using math materials for the first 45 minutes of the school day. The children have enjoyed counting, patterning, measuring, and exploring geometry and spatial sense. Children learn math through hands-on experiences such as these. Our math centre is open for exploration every day, and math is also embedded in all the learning we do, both inside and outside! Math is everywhere! You don't need expensive materials like these - at Dollarama you can find buttons, stones, and beads perfect for counting, sorting, and patterning.

Family Friday and Room 208 Snapshots

A reminder that this Friday, April 25th, is our second Family Friday! You are welcome to come join us from the beginning of the day until 10:30! You will come into the school with us in the line, and we will give you special passes. Here is some of what you might see on your visit...
