Word Wall

Our classroom word wall has been growing. As we read books and poems together, we have been adding sight words (it, is, the, I, and).

In December, we added a new section on the word wall. Letter sound pictures. I asked the children to help me find objects in the classroom that started with the letter-sound of each alphabet letter.

I started with an easy example. We had apples at the snack table and apples starts with the A sound. We took a photograph of it and put a sticky note with the word apple on the word-wall. Next thing I knew, we had an alphabet hunt going on in our classroom. Nearly all of the letters had a sticky note on them by the end of the day.

We are working on finding the last few objects for some tricky letter sounds. V, W, X and Y. Perhaps we will have to look outside the classroom for these letter-sounds.
